Tuesday shouts round two

Time now for our bonus stuff on this Tuesday. We are going to lead off with baseball. Couple of items from there. First, while most of the youth fall stuff on the diamond is with girls’ softball, there is a little bit of baseball also going on. A pair of Mount Si High School players got reps in this past Saturday in a game with the Washington A’s fall squad. The A’s, an 18U team, held off Washington Select in the contest 4-3. Wildcats Owen Krasowski and J.D. Tenhulzen both pitched in the game for the A’s, based in Sammamish. Each pitched two innings, with Krasowski allowing a walk while striking out five for the win, and Tenhulzen allowing a hit while striking out four receiving no decision. Both players also hit in the game, each going 0-1 although Tenhulzen walked once and also scored a run. Most players are currently preparing for the upcoming spring high school season with Mount Si or Cedarcrest. CHS alum Aaron Davenport closed out the 2024 season in professional baseball wi...

Tuesday softball shouts

Good Tuesday morning. Time for our weekly softball shoutouts as the fall portion of the 2024-25 travel softball season is now well underway. Many of the region's top teams, and a number of top young ladies from the Valley, competed this past weekend in the first of two straight weekends of significant local action. The tournament this past weekend was organized by the Washington Acers program, and several of those local players earn shoutouts this morning. Leading that off is Mount Si High School sophomore Madi Brand. Brand had a very good weekend with her team, Woodinville's Elevate Bowman 16U's. Brand was a factor in several of their team's games over the course of the weekend event, headlined by a walkoff single in a game on Sunday that lifted Elevate to a 9-8 win over the Washington Wildcats. Brand as noted was a significant element for her squad as they won the 16U "B" division title at the tournament, one of three teams with Valley players to take ti...

College shouts

Time now for our regular Sunday installment of college athlete shoutouts for Valley athletes competing in fall college sports. The smorgasbord for you this morning with all sports repped. We'll lead off with football. The shouts this morning go to a pair of Mount Si HS grads who recorded important milestones last night in their college experience. First, down in Canyon, TX, just outside Amarillo, the wait proved to be well worth it for Wildcat alumnus Beau Phillips. The freshman with Central Washington University and from Snoqualmie became the first of the Mount Si trio with Central this fall to make his college debut, doing so for Central's 'Cats in a 45-3 blowout of West Texas A&M in a game that did not start until 10:00pm local time due to heavy weather in the area last night, and didn't end as a result until 1 this morning. Hope Beau, Brock and Cooper all got a good night's sleep on the flight back from down there last night. Rest up today all three of yo...

Sunday shouts

Time now for a special Sunday shoutout for some of our high school athletes for you this morning. Much of this is going to be Cedarcrest-oriented and I want to quickly thank coaches Vik Ignacio from Red Wolve volleyball and Bruce McDowell from Red Wolve cross country for sending their results our direction to include in this. I expect to have this for the remainder of fall sports by the way. Mount Si families, let your coaches know to send stats to snovalleysports@gmail.com for inclusion in this shoutout. We'll lead off with volleyball. Cedarcrest's ladies are for the first time in recent memory 2-0 in league play to start the season. We expected this to be the case for them moving to Kingco and we were right about that, and we are sure the girls are enjoying it and gaining confidence at the same time. The Red Wolves swept Highline at home last Tuesday 25-13, 25-18, 25-18. Shouts for that game go to Kaylee Rogers, who had seven aces and seven kills, Cruise Cullen, who had fo...

Tuesday softball shoutouts

Hello everyone. Special announcement this morning. I am going to be adding a second set of shoutouts, for youth softball, each week here, on Tuesday’s following the finish of local weekend tournaments. Mount Si and Cedarcrest High School’s softball programs every year field tremendous talent and as you all know, the girls at both Valley high schools have been successful, with each program seeing a state tournament appearance in recent seasons. Part of why that is is, especially with Mount Si, the large number of girls competing in year-round travel ball, which is what we are focusing on in this weekly segment. Before we get to all of the highlights from the weekend, we want to first shout out Anna Braukus this morning. The Mount Si senior shortstop late last Friday announced a verbal commitment to attend and play for the University of Nevada-Reno next season. We know she is very excited and why wouldn’t she be – the team this spring went 40-17 and is one of the stronger “mid-maj...
